THIS IS GREG BRODIE, NOT MADISON LIGORI-TUCCI

Memory, W.B. Yeats

One had a lovely face,
And two or three had charm,
But charm and face were in vain
Because the mountain grass
Cannot but keep the form
Where the mountain hare has lain.

In the first two lines "One has a lovely face, And two or three had charm" uses numbers to performs to:

1) create choppy syntax and polysyndeton, bringing focus to the relevance of the lines
2) Diminish the the meaning of "charm" and "face"
3) Introduce the numerical motif
4) Suggest "the mountain hare" leaving its form in the grass, is more relevant.
5)Introduce a satirical tone
